My last post was in June. I will give you a summary of how ridiculous I have been.
I ate healthy.
I ate shit.
I gained weight.
I gave up the Marathon goal.
I joined Tone It Up. (love it)
I lost weight!
I started training for a Half.
I stopped training.
Now I am gaining again.
Yep. I am so good at sticking to something...
So I decided to come back here and share my new outlook on this whole weight thing.
I do not feel good about myself when I start to lose my healthy diet and gain a few pounds. I am by no means "fat" but I am not fit. That is a problem. I am also learning that when I try to stick to an exact workout plan I just don't stick with it. I miss one day, then another, and another. So I have decided to go back to my old ways that helped me lose weight back in the Spring... From now my goal is to get in at least one sweat a day. This is much more feasible for me. Maybe one day I will accomplish a big race, but for now I will just run what is comfortable on the days that I feel like running.
I think that grad school has not helped. My schedule is a complete disaster. I would rather workout a little everyday and stay at a healthy weight, then to stress out over missing a long run on a day when I really need to study.
So here we go again. Wish me luck.

A walk in the park.
Today's Workout:
Today is an off day on my marathon training schedule. I didn't want the day to go to waste so I took a really nice mile walk in the park. Then I did two Tone It Up toning sessions.
I really need to eat healthy again. I can feel my flat tummy slipping away. Boo.
Until next time...

Trying to find my routine...
Okay, so I haven't gotten into a routine yet...
Tuesday: No workout. I was recovering from a serious head cold and decided I may run into traffic if I attempted a long run..
Wednesday: The Raider and I played in our first two kickball games!! It was so much fun! We swept both games! Got in some good sprinting action.
Thursday: 2 mile run. Ran the Ponderosa out and back course starting and ending at the rec. It was a good run despite being my first real workout in a week due to my head cold. AND my first run in my new Asics! Felt good!
Friday: Another 2 mile run. I feel like I ran it a little slow, but I forgot to start my watch so I cannot even guess how long it took me. It was 94 degrees and the humidity is at 55%. Not too bad... but pretty rough on the lungs. I think I will treat myself to a lovely Chocolate Zico Coconut Water now. Happy Running :)
Stick with me, I promise to keep this up to date with my workouts. This is new to me and I am trying to form a new habit. A healthy one.

The Fort Worth Marathon
Yes. You read that correctly. I have decided to run the Fort Worth Marathon on November 11th. Which means that I have 19 weeks to train for this shindig.
I have started this blog to keep myself accountable during my training, and to share my experience with others.
I have never ran a marathon. This is all new to me. I do consider myself a runner, but usually a pretty average mileage runner. My runs usually vary from 2 miles to 4 miles. This is definitely going to be a challenge for me, but I am so excited for it!
Just a little background for those of you who do not know me-

Just a little background for those of you who do not know me-
I began running when I was 10 years old with my local soccer team.
I have ran plenty of 5k's since then.
I ran varsity on my high school cross country and track teams for 4 years.
After high school I stopped working out and learned that it wasn't magic that I was skinny in high school... it was hard work.
I currently do cross-fit, birkam yoga, and run on a pretty normal basis.
So why have I decided to take on this challenge? Well, in January I decided that it was time that I got back into shape, so I started working out and eating healthy. I have lost a total of 13 pounds in the last 6 months!!! (This is a lot of weight for a 5'1" girl like me). I also graduated from college last month with my Bachelors in Social Work. I am so proud of myself. I want to get the last few pounds off, and a marathon would be perfect. Plus it will remind me that I can do anything! Cheesy right?
GOALS:
- Follow the training plan as closely as I can. Only missing scheduled runs if I am sick or have some crazy emergency.
- Avoid the Texas summer heat as often as possible. I know this will be difficult, but I think this may be a good time to become a morning runner.
- Listen to my body. It is important that I don't overdo it during the next few months.
- Complete the marathon, not win the marathon. This is my first marathon, so I want to focus on completing the distance. I do not want to get caught up in worrying about my time.
- Eat as clean and as healthy as possible. Limit my fast food intake to twice a week. Cooking my own food is not only super healthy, but will also help me save a ton of money.
I will be using my boyfriend, we shall call him the Raider, as a continued source of support. He thinks that running a marathon is crazy, but he thinks I can do it. He is also an amazing cook, maybe I can bribe some healthy meals out of him.
Well I am starting my training program tomorrow, with the help of my new running shoes purchased over the weekend. Wish me luck. I will do daily check in's along the way. Please share your encouraging words!!!
